The fire and the fireman

Fighting fire

I was going to blog about what I saw and thought while taking this photo, but I've decided to let the story of the fireman and the fire be yours.

Saguaro Cactus

photo of saguaro

I was driving back from Tucson Saturday and I knew the sunset was going to be colorful. I got to Picacho Peak just a little too late to get down the trail where there was a great horizontal shot of hundreds of Saguaros. So I grabbed this shot.

More from Gilbert Fire Department

Gilbert Photographer

At an evening live fire training, I was able to capture some dramatic images. The sky was dark with clouds so I had to use different setting to get the right exposures. I was hoping for a nice colorful sunset behind a fire, but the clouds were to thick. The photo above was the beginning of a live burn. Trucks roll in, firefights get our, hook up hoses, turn on water and away they go.

It's been a while

Gilbert Arizona Photographer

So it's been over a month and I haven't posted to the blog. Well, I've been to Mexico once, California twice and from one end of Arizona to the other a couple of times. Living in Gilbert, AZ, makes for a lot of traveling from time to time. But all the trips have been exciting, with some challenging new experiences and some really fun times. I didn't have to go all the way to Mexico for this flower shot, but it was there so I shot it.

Another wedding in the near future.

So there's another wedding in the very near future. I got this shot when they were here at Christmas, (they are in North Dakota). Wishing you a very bright and happy future. I love you, Dad

D-Con Training at Station 8

Gilbert fire station number 8 is tasked with the Phoenix Valley decontamination unit. This consists of a fully loaded truck to d-con a large incident. Tents for men and women, generators, water connections, command tents and a couple of air conditioner. The unit holds enough materials and supplies to be deployed for 3 days and every Gilbert firefighter has to be able to man it. Which brings me to Friday's training session. C shift was training firefighters from station 7 and station 3 on how to set up and operation each section of the unit. With set up and take down, this was an all day training involving about 15 people.

Creative fire truck parts

Since I'm taking photos of the people at the fire department, I decided to do some creative shots too. This is just one. I do a lot of creative things with wedding photos and portraits, but taking that to an object is a little different.
